For players, the accuracy of 'Peterson' tuning is a revelation. For Studio engineers it makes life stable and secure (as far as it can ever be!); no more tuning worries now or later at overdub time.
Accuracy - in an experiment we tuned a guitar lying on its back, then put it on and played; the Peterson detected and we corrected for the difference between the two positions
Long term stability - tune the same at the start and end of the gig, and also 6 months later in the studio for the overdubs
Additional information - with indications of harmonics, you can set up guitars easily; it's immediately clear which way you need to move to get it right
Tunings - there are a number of 'sweetened' tunings, and the ability to micro tune too, on some of the tuners (see below)
Peterson tuners are more expensive than run-of-the-mill LED based tuners, but they comprehensively outperform them all. Once you've tried a Peterson, going back is like riding a bike with square wheels.
